Report #2 to Museum Block Residents from the Directors of the West 78th Street Museum Bloc Association

December 19, 2016

Greetings for the Holiday season!

Since our report to you of October 8 (copy in the News section of our website, W78MBA.org), we have raised over $5,000 from a small group of enthusiastic resident owners. Our Phase 1 budget equals $20,000, and we are now approaching the entire membership for the balance of $15,000. This will cover all tree pit enlargements, the addition of at least 2 new pits and trees as well as 4 replacement trees.

We have budgeted the entire cost over all of the buildings and come to a Phase 1 allocation of $400 per building.. We are also very happy to accept smaller contributions from tenants, who have for many years been active participants in our tree program. Of the 26 owners of small buildings or coops whom we solicited initially 15 quickly gave an average of over $400 each. These include the owners or coop shareholders in building #s 103, 108, 114, 119, 121, 123, 124, 126, 132, 136, & 157. Plus pledges from 113, 135 & 161.

Contributing is easy by credit card on our website or by dropping your check off thru the mail slot at 114 W 78th . 100% of your contribution is tax-deductible this year.

Urban Arborists, our selected vendor for all of the Phase 1 work, is now in the process of getting permits from the city for sidewalk cutting and tree planting. We hope to complete this any day, but if there is a delay beyond the tree planting season near the end of December, this work will be postponed until the spring.
